Get to Know Me

Food has always ran thick in my blood. My mother, was a GREAT cook and some of my earliest childhood memories were of her in the kitchen.  Whether it was dozens of pirogi’s or dozens of cookies, she was always cooking something and I remember always being close by. I have lots of memories as a kid and like most of us, the really good memories involved food. I say you haven’t lived life unless you got roped in to helping Lucille make something, as it was always an experience.

Why run a blog in a blog-eat-blog world?  Mainly for my own personal enjoyment.  I’ll share it with friends and such, but beyond that I don’t expect much.  I figure one online space would be a good place to document everything and anything going on in my little head.  I hope you enjoy it and if you do, share it, pin it, or just come back as often as you like to see what’s going on.  I plan to share some of the things my mom taught me as well as the stories from those days.  Along the way I will share new recipes and ideas and the stories that inspire me as I raise my own family. Additionally, I’ll share some photos and perhaps even a creative story or two along the way.

So, a little about me.  If you made it this far, I’ll give you the basics about me.  First off, all six feet three inches of me is the baby of the (first) family — older brother and older sister (my mom remarried and she had another son, my dad remarried twice and had 2 more sons). Where that leaves me on the family tree…well….I’m a leaf…that’s about it.

I was born on the South Side of Pittsburgh, lived there until I was 18, then left to serve proudly in the United States Navy.  After 6 years I came back to Pittsburgh where I’ve lived ever since (suburban style). I have a wife of 7 years, a daughter, a step-son, 2 dogs and an adopted fish. While our family isn’t the most traditional, it is family and we make the most of it.  I’m currently a Project Manager in for a Financial Services company.  Despite its quite hectic pace, I actually really enjoy what I do.  When I’m not working, I enjoy a nice day hike along the many beautiful trails of Western PA.  In the fall and winter, I’m usually passionately  following Pitt football (look for some tailgate blog posts) and basketball (my NUMBER 1 passion).

Glad you liked it. I’m hoping to mix in a bit of family history, some of my own twists on things, trial and error of things I’ve never made. I’ll even throw in some random restaurant reviews and some non-food blog entries.

Love the why a blog section…and I learned a little more about you even though we worked together for almost 6 years just by reading your “About Me” section. Will be following your blog on a regular basis and can’t wait to try some of your recipes!

I’m not a foodie (as we discussed) but I blog! You have a very ‘conversational” writing style. Consider me a follower

heard about your passion of cooking thru your lovely wife.
As she described what you prepared for dinner last night it piqued my interest.
Great blog, love ALL your recipes, and must try your meatballs.
Looking forward to more of your ideas.
